La banda fue formada en 1999.El primer álbum de Avenged Sevenfold, Sounding the Seventh Trumpet (Sonando la Séptima Trompeta), fue grabado cuando los miembros de la banda tenían dieciocho años. Fue lanzado por su primera discográfica: Good Life Recordings.
